The Fabulous Flares

1967-72

"The Fabulous Flares Revue" was formed with the members of two bands." The Counts", who were losing many of it's key members going off to school, and "The GayeLords", a pop rock band, playing all original music, but had lost one of it's founding members.

Eddie Blair was the founder of The Flares, and it was his vision, to put together a band that features 3 very talented ladies up front to sing, and a solid R&B horn band to back them up. (more to come)

Apologies for the sound quality. Access to this material is very limited, some tunes only on cassette. "Ain't No Big Thing" came right from the 45 record.

...The Flares did a few recording projects, and were featured in various radio and television commercials over those few years. Biltmore Milk was the first TV ad around here to use the new chroma key trick where they could put you in front of any background. They had the band flying around the Biltmore Mansion, drinking milk. It was a hoot. The band also did a popular Ruth's Salad ad.

The band's only 45 was "Ain't No Big Thing",, and the flip side was "You Love Her More", a song that Eddie wrote, Both songs were 3 part harmony virtually throughout the tunes.

Later on, with Judi Dozier in the band, they recorded an original arrangement of "Walk On By".

At another time, the band recorded 3 of Mike Snead's songs/arrangements, featuring Ron Ownbey singing. Only the 45, mentioned earlier, was ever released.
